"In addition to Zodiac cruises and shore excursions, we may ship cruise some of the narrow, dramatic straits separating offshore islands from the mainland, or linger in scenic bays to watch whales travelling or feeding. This is a great time to enjoy the observation lounge or make your way to the bridge (open at the captain’s discretion) for uninterrupted views of Antarctica in all its splendour. Listen out for the creak and deep rumble of glaciers as they carve. Take a quiet moment to experience the wonder of the pristine paradise of the splendid white continent."
Day 18 of our Antarctic Tour.
Whale bones covered in snow and algae.
Gentoo Penguins
Still not tired of seeing icebergs.
Cormorant.
How cute is this little penguin chick.
After our landing we went on a zodiac cruise.
Leopard seal.
Taken from the ship as we were moving to the next spot ⬇️
This afternoon we actually landed on the Antarctic Continent 😍
I was a little bit excited 😁
Our new friends, Helen, Chris, Shirley, Chris, Amanda, Tony, Me and Markie.
Almost at the top of our climb to a view point.
I did say I was a little bit excited 😁
Ice calved off the berg just as we got to our view point. It sounded like thunder and caused waves to ripple to the shore.
Then we went for another zodiac cruise in the bay.
A raft of cormorants.

A few people did the polar plunge but we were only given 15 minutes notice. I just got out of the shower as was putting clean clothes on and couldn't get myself organised in time 🤷♀️
At our briefing tonight we were informed that there was another storm on its way. This would produce 9m waves on the Drake Passage. So thankfully it has been decided that we are heading back early to hopefully miss most of the worst of the Drake Shake.
Instead of staying in the bay tonight we are motoring to the South Shetland Islands for a day of exploring before we cross the Drake Passage. We will have 2 nights on the boat docked in Ushuaia and do an extra tour while there.
Dinner was a BBQ and we all had to wear a hat.
We saw so many humpback whales today but it's 11pm and I am too tired for anymore blogging 😴
