Day 4. Sydney. 20.1.25

Went for a meander while waiting for breakfast to start.

This morning we caught up with one of Marks former work colleagues,  Debra, from his banking days. Unfortunately her husband Peter couldn't make it at the last minute. I've not met any of Marks workmates before so it was a bit exciting.

We set off on another walk to catch the tram to Circular Quay and then walked on to the Opera House playing tourists again, snapping too many photos 🤷‍♀️

Lots of boats on the harbour.

Kirribilli House built in 1855, is the secondary official residence of the prime minister of Australia. Located in the Northern Sydney suburb of Kirribilli.
Government house,  closed to the public today.
Wandered through the botanical gardens and around to Mrs Macquarie's chair.

The Fleet Steps link Farm Cove to Mrs Macquaries Road. It is named after the Great White Fleet of the US Navy, and was built for the visit of that fleet to Sydney in 1908. It is the point where Queen Elizabeth II first set foot on Australian soil.

Fort Denison. This former military site is the most complete Martello Tower in the world.
A former defence facility, it is located on a small harbour island in the centre of Sydney Harbour just a stone's throw from the Botanic Gardens. It was once under attack from US friendly fire in WWII.
Normally you can visit the fort explore its museum, canons gun powder store and winding staircase. It has a fully operational tide guage room where Sydneys tidal benchmark is recorded. Unfortunately for us it is closed for upgrades until the middle of the year.  We will just have to come back.

We decided to slowly head home on foot, instead of going back on the tram, stopping at a couple of places that we missed yesterday.

State Library.

Our feet were tired so we stopped for an ice cream and then home for a hot shower and rest. We have walked just over 10kms so far today.

The sun was shining all day and no wind, got to 25°. So glad we did the bridge climb yesterday when it was cooler.

On our hunt for dinner we came across these lovely trees. Today we have walked 12kms.

Can't believe I forgot the womens cricket was on tonight at the SCG. We were going to go and watch it 😭😭😭
